Have you ever wanted to escape on the ultimate Bushcraft and Wilderness Adventure? If so you need to read more about what my friends are doing!

I came across this and wanted share to with everyone. It looks like every Bushcrafters dream! Check it out and let me know what you think.

Overview

Wild Earth Adventures operates in the remote Coast Mountain Range of British Columbia on the edge of the Great Bear Rainforest. Based in Bella Coola we explore the Coast Mountains and the Chilcotin Plateau, a remote and pristine wilderness frontier which gives a fascinating glimpse of the old Wild West.

Our Bushcraft and Survival Expedition will be on a remote chain of lakes deep in the Coast Mountains, accessed by floatplane. During this time our guests will learn a range of bushcraft skills as well as wilderness travel and canoe techniques. After spending 6 days in the backcountry we will then be based in Bella Coola Valley for 3 days to explore the rainforest trails and salmon spawning grounds, learning about the native culture and lifestyle.

Guides

Dave Holder is a survival instructor using skills learnt in the military and also time spent with First Nations peoples in Canada and other parts of the world. Ultimately his expertise has been gained by spending time with the great Canadian Bushcraft Instructor Mors Kochanski from whom he gained his Canadian survival instructor qualification.

Keri Rutherford is our expert canoe guide joining the trip via the Yukon and North West Territories where she spends the winters dog sledding and the summers guiding on some of Canada’s big wild rivers. Keri will be guiding the group while canoeing and assisting Dave in teaching some of the canoe techniques useful in wilderness travel. She is also a fantastic cook!

Program Outline

Each day there will be a period of bushcraft instruction. Time will be set aside to cover some of the topics listed above. These subjects will be taught according to the ecosystem you are in, the activity taking place and other factors such as the weather. There will be some flexibility to the program in order to progress at the clients pace according to their comprehension and ability levels. Topics covered will include:

· Basic shelter building

·Camp craft

·Fire lighting skills

·Traditional cooking

·Hunting weapons and trap settings

·Animal tracking

·Knife skills

·Bear awareness

During the expedition novices and comparatively inexperienced paddlers will have the opportunity to gain skills that are fundamental to wilderness canoeing. Canoe skills covered will include:

· Solo and Tandem paddling

· The portage, lifting, carrying, loading and launching

· Manoeuvring the canoe: forwards backwards, sideways and turning on the move

· Paddling open water safely and efficiently

· Rescue skills: capsize and self rescue, deep water rescue and towing

· The theory behind the art of expedition canoeing
